Duo Handsome Family has premiered a video for their song “Far From Any Road,” recently shooting to popularity when it was chosen as the theme song for the HBO show “True Detective”.
Brett and Rennie Sparks have spent 20 years collaborating in music ranging from punk rock to folk, gathering a steadfast respect in the music world. Originally on their 2003 Album, Singing Bones, “Far From Any Road” has gone viral in both the U.S. and U.K. Spotify since H.B.O. Supervisor T. Bone Burnett chose it to be the main theme song to the hit show “True Detective”. As Rennie said in a press release, “How strange to have an almost forgotten song from years ago resurrected and so showered with love! People keep asking us how we managed to write such a perfect song to open True Detective. They compliment us on all the various connections to the storyline we’ve managed to include and how perfectly our song emotionally sets the pace for each episode. They think I’m lying when I say that the song was written long before the TV show was a spark of an idea. Maybe time really is a flat circle.” Though they both are from Chicago, they now make music in their home in Albuquerque.
The song is available now.
