Girl-trio Ex Hex is here with a crazy fun new video for their debut track “So Hot So Cold”.
Ex Hex is a young rock trio pulled together by ex- Wild Flag and Helium member Mary Timony, joined by Betsy Wright and Laura Harris. Their upbeat but unapologetically rock and punk inspired tunes won the hearts of those who saw them perform at SXSW this year. We get a taste of Timony’s early punk inspired style on”So Hot So Cold” from some nice distorted chops and a gritty solo riff, all the while singing in her detached, too-cool-for-school way. Directed by Laura Gallagher, the video features Nation of Ulysses/the Make-Up/Chain and the Gang frontman Ian Svenonius, and revolves around them eating a ludicrously large feast.
“So Hot So Cold” is off the limited Edition debut 7-inch, accompanied by tracks “Waterfall” and “Everywhere”, but a full length album is due this fall 2014. And after we heard that it was recorded old school in Mary’s DC basement this past summer, it’s that much harder to wait! In the mean time, catch Ex Hex on tour this spring.
