The man of Gorillaz and Blur debuted a song for a baby elephant on a special “Kimmel” performance in SXSW.
Everyone has lost count of how many albums Damon Albarn has worked on. From Blur, Gorillaz, to supergroups and solo projects, Damon Albarn is the number one workaholic in the music industry, and he has another album for you again!
Damon is currently working on his solo album Everyday Robot. He has released two songs from his upcoming album: “Everyday Robots” and “Lonely Press Play”.
According to Damon himself, “Mr. Tembo” is originally written for a baby elephant. “It was recently orphaned and walked onto this aerodrome; the people I know took it in and called it Mr. Tembo. I was there, and I met this little elephant, and he was very sweet. I sang it to him. It was recorded on a phone, and in a light-hearted moment, I put it on a list for Richard. He said, ‘I’d really like you to try that,’ so I did.”
