Charlie XCX Working With Weezer, Vampire Weekend Members on New Album

British singer and songwriter Charlie XCX made the shift from synth-pop to music that is “so much more live”, with helps from Rivers Cuom of Weezer and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend.

After writing “I Love It”, which became the breakthrough hit for Swedish duo Icona Pop, Charlie XCX’s talent was recognized and soon she released her second studio album True Romance. However, she has already decided to turn away from synth-pop, and dive into a new style which she believed that: “The music I’m making now is so much more live — it’s inspired by the Ramones, the Hives, Weezer….”

The new album will feature Rivers Cuom from Weezer and Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend. Los Angeles rock band Weezer was formed in 1992.This spring, Weezer will be kicking off the “Weezer Cruise“, string of dates they will be playing from Jacksonville to the Bahamas, complete with a private beach island party. Vampire Weekend had a big year last year, with the release of critically acclaimed Modern Vampires of the City , they topped almost every best album charts of the year, including MXDWN.

Charlie XCX will be performing at Bumbershoot this year.
