Dubstep-EDM behemoth Skrillex has unleashed his latest album, Recess, to his eager fans and it is set for worldwide release this March 18th, on OSWLA/BigBeat/Atlantic Records.
Unconventional as ever, Skrillex diffused his album through a mysterious app featuring a countdown clock and a retro alien game. Starting yesterday March 10th, the app unlocked a new track every thirty minutes until the full album was available.
Insanely cool tech gimmicks aside, the album promises to be quite the journey- rife with collaborations, Skrillex seems to be “delivering on his promise as a fully-fledged musician, taking the listener by the wrist for a celestial reconciliation with innocence, escape, passion, and love while pulling from every imaginable influence within and outside of electronic music.” Diplo, Ragga Twins, Chance the Rapper, Passion Pit vocalist Michael Angelakos, and many others appear in the impressive tracklisting of Recess, which was recorded in not one but seven locations: Los Angeles, Seattle, Seoul, London, Stockholm, San Francisco, and Brooklyn.
