Ever-inspired filmmaker/musician David Lynch has collaborated with the greats Moby, Bastille, and Bjorn Yttling and Bastille on the EP for Record Store Day 2014.
Lynch has announced that he will be releasing a remix of his 2013 album, The Big Dream, with featured artists Moby, Bastille, Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John, and DJ Hot Since ’82.
This is the first time the prolific Lynch has released an EP on Record Store Day, and it will be limited to 500 copies in the UK. Although it will appear in 12″ clear red vinyl, it also is accompanied by an MP3 download code. Record Store Day is an effort that started in 2007 to ” as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1000 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally.” Celebrated every third week of April, Rcord Store Day invited Chuck D of Public Enemy to host this years event. Although the event is only one day a year, the label and group behind it work to release music and support independent artists in various ways.
Lynch’s EP is one of many of the projects the artist has been involved in recently; notedly, last summer Lynch directed Nine Inch Nail’s video for their single, “Come Back Haunted”. The four time Academy Award nominee also released the single “Are You Sure” last summer off of The Big Dream, released on Sacred Bones.
