Adam Jones Claims He Was “Kidding” About Statements That Tool’s New Album Was Complete

According to CraveOnline, source has been told by none other than guitarist Adam Jones himself, that Tool’s new album is 100% complete. Since that statement, Adam Jones has retracted his comment with a tweet saying, “Hello greg. Fyi ‘the record’s done and coming out tomorrow’ is what I said yesterday followed by ‘just kidding.’” The band then issued an exclusive statement to Rolling Stone explaining how a conversation between Adam and a fan turned into a big misunderstanding. The statement then went on to say, “Work on the forthcoming album is ongoing and as soon as it is done, trust me, we will be the first to let everyone know.”

Not sure of the exact day, an exclusive source told CraveOnline that Adam said on either Thursday afternoon while on tour, or at a pre-show meet and greet in Portland, that the follow up to 2006’s 10,000 Days will be released this year. Without any new information on the shape or sound of the album, this information definitely got their fans waiting on the edge of their seats.

Last October mxdwn reported that drummer Danny Carey said that 2014 was looking like definite possibly for their next album to be released, while in a Rolling Stone interview, frontman Maynard James Keenan said, “It’s a long process… I’m not pointing any fingers. I will take full responsibility if I have to.”

Following the band’s natural process, Tool had posted on their official website that a song they were working on, ”feature complex time signatures, interesting harmonic structure, and expanding effects processing- similar to what fans of Tool have to expect- only now, perhaps not surprisingly, the band has taken it to the next level.

In January, Maynard James Keenan’s side project, A Perfect Circle, released video of the band performing “By and Down,” their first original song since 2004. The track also appeared on A Perfect Circle Live: Featuring Stone and Echo, an in-concert album of a 2011 performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. In 2010, the band reunited after 6 years to tour together and ended up releasing Three Sixty, a chronological compilation of songs from their live performances.

Tool announced recently that they would be starting spring tour March 9 in Reno that ends May 11 in Los Angeles. Joining them on the Western U.S. tour will be fellow Los Angeles based band Failure.
