Swedish pop-electro-indie goddess Lykke Li has announced both an exciting upcoming album “I Never Learn” release for May 2014, as well as a spanking new video, “Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone.”
Her 2011 tour-de-force of pop, Wounded Rhymes left listeners eagerly awaiting her third album, and Li has finally unveiled the details for the upcoming May 6th release on Atlantic Records. Li dropped a gorgeous trailer, lush with dreamy images in saturated filters over the eerie chanting vocals. She has also announced both U.S. and European tour dates for this year (see below).
Lykke recorded most of the album in Los Angeles and for the first time, co-produced it herself with collaborators Bjorn Yttling and Greg Kurstin. Inspired by recent heartbreak, the album is riddled with deeply moving tracks, as Lyyke describes in her press release: “Every song on the album is a power ballad. Like one of those old radio stations. This is a slow dance; a slow burner.”
Li has created a buzz by dropping her first video from the upcoming album, “Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone”. The low-key track, sung in desperation and almost acapella, is accompanied by an up-close shot of the singer (and sometimes model) looking typically upset, lost and bewildered. Tarik Saleh considers it an “up close portrait” of the singer, and it certainly communicates the loneliness and pain that Li seems to have fabricated this album from.
