What do you know? Our detective work was proven conclusive today as it was announced that Soundgarden will indeed play at SXSW 2014. The band is celebrating the platinum anniversary of their 1994 album, Superunknown by reissuing a deluxe version. They are set to play the entire album at SXSW.

Superunknown was released in March of 1994 and included songs like “Spoonman” and “Black Hole Sun,” both of which received Grammy awards. Since its release, the album gained all sorts of attention including being certified as a platinum album five times and showing up on Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The album features an obvious Metal influence, but the songs are clearly part of the rock genre.
The reissue of Superunknown promises to be super awesome. They are remastering the entire album and expanding the content. Two versions will be available as well as a five piece vinyl set featuring the singles from Superunknown. One deluxe version will be released as a 2-disk set, which will include 16 demo recordings, rehearsal recordings, as well as the original track list. The super deluxe version will be a five-disk set including even more ear candy, Blu-ray and surround sound, photos of the band, artwork by Josh Graham and more. These deluxe versions will be released in stores on June 3rd, 2014. Check out their unreleased rehearsal video and the remastered Superunknown tracklists below.
