Warpaint Announce Spring 2014 Tour Dates

Warpaint has just announced plans to hit the road on a tour that will take the band all the way through the end of the summer. The news comes just weeks after the Los Angeles based, all-female quartet released its sophomore album, Warpaint. The tour hits four continents and several of the year’s major music festivals, including South By Southwest and Coachella. Warpaint won’t have company for much of the tour, but plan to make brief appearances with Queens of the Stone Age and The National.

Warpaint’s sophomore album had a lot to live up to. The band formed almost 10 years ago to the day, but got its first big break when John Frusciante of The Red Hot Chili Peppers mixed its EP, Exquisite Corpse. That was quickly followed by 2010’s The Fool, which earned the band appearances at major music festivals and critical acclaim from the BBC.

Already noted for its heavier percussion beats and softer vocal harmonies, the band’s second full-length album is a dreamier departure from its earlier post-grunge sound and may draw an audience this time that prefers The xx to Siouxsie and the Banshees. The two albums have their differences, but it’s encouraging that Warpaint isn’t losing sight of its roots while simultaneously striking out to try something new.
