We’ve all been there: someone’s at a show, had a little bit too much to drink, and they go winging off the stage. Now, if you’re under them, you’ve got a couple of options. First, you can catch them – risky, but awesome if you have help. Second, you can get out of the way and wait for the splat. Third, you can stay under them, sustain serious injuries after they land on you, then sue for well over million dollars.
Your call.
Okay, so it wasn’t really Kimberly Meyers’ choice that Fishbone frontman Angelo Moore managed to launch himself off the stage with enough force to break her collarbone and skull. Yes, you read that right, her freakin’ skull. So she sued, and she won, and Fishbone has been ordered to pay $1.4 million. Moore employed the risky “people get hurt at our shows all the time” defense, which didn’t work. It’s also worth noting that this is actually the second time Moore has been sued over stagediving injuries. No offense to Moore, but it’s probably time just to quit while he’s not too far behind, and stay on stage.
