Well known pop/alternative rock band OneRepublic is playing Austin’s newest outdoor venue, the Austin360 Amphitheatre. In 2003, OneRepublic was discovered by actress Kelly Barrett in Hollywood, California, and signed to Sony BMG for three years before moving to Mosley Music Group. OneRepublic’s debut album, Dreaming Out Loud, was released in 2007. Their debut album included hit single “Apologize,” remixed by Timbaland. It became a huge international success, reaching spot No. 1 in over sixteen countries. The album also received a Grammy Award Nomination. Their second single, “Stop and Stare,” received the same amount of recognition, and OneRepublic’s album was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
OneRepublic’s second album, Waking Up, included four hit singles that reached top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Their latest album, Native, was the band’s first top ten album on the Billboard 200. Their latest hit single, “Counting Stars,” became the band’s most successful single in recent years, obtaining top five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S. and the UK.
Lead vocalist, Ryan Tedder, describes their musical influences, “We’re no respecter of genre. If it’s a good song or a good artist whether rock, pop, indie or hip hop, they’ve probably influenced us on some level…nothing’s new under the sun, we’re a sum of a bunch of parts.” Allmusic reviews their sound, “… OneRepublic recalls the melodies of the Fray and the vocal acrobatics of Maroon 5’s, Adam Levine… and often favors cathartic, cranked-up choruses.”
