Tweak Bird Announce New Album Any Ol’ Way for May 2014 Release

Tweak Bird’s third LP, Any Ol’ Way, drops May 20, 2014.

The band is made up of brothers Ashton and Caleb Bird, who live and make their music in Los Angeles. Tweak Bird has had two full-length records, including 2010’s self-titled one, and two EPs, one of which is called Undercover Crops and was the 2012 follow-up to Tweak Bird. The duo’s website says that the drum kit used by Tweak Bird was passed down from Dale Crover of the Melvins.

Tweak Bird, while describing their sound as “heavy rock with lite vocals,” also likes to transform the music from album to album. Listening to “People” or “The Weight” from Undercover Crops may give you an idea of why Noisey said that the EP was “heavy yet blissful stoner-psych rock.” On the other hand, the brothers describe their latest venture as having the feel of “a movie from the nineties, that takes place in the seventies.”

The Melvins is just one group that Tweak Bird has toured with; others include Tool, Black Mountain, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and Big Business. They have also headlined plenty of their own shows in the US and Europe for the past five years. Any Ol’ Way will feature 11 tracks and it will be Tweak Bird’s second release with Let’s Pretend Records.
