Mac DeMarco, Puro Instinct and Avid Dancer, Live at The Echo

On January 29, the longest line The Echo had ever seen waited for the Red Bull Sound Select Presents: Los Angeles showcase. Hoping to see headliner Mac DeMarco along with Puro Instinct and Avid Dancer, the stream of concertgoers extended across the Glendale Boulevard bridge along Sunset Boulevard all the way to Brite Spot.

After Avid Dancer– led by former U.S. Marine and expert snare drummer Jacob Summers– provided some grooving psychedelia, sisters Piper and Skylar Kaplan of Puro Instinct pepped up the crowd with some lilting pop. Then, wild-eyed Mac DeMarco, of Vancouver, Canada, played a raucous set of hits laced with pop covers that had audience members (and DeMarco himself) stage diving with glee.
