Jane’s Addiction doing Nothing’s Shocking in its entirety in Las Vegas

We’re used to bands calling it quits, reuniting, calling it quits again, reuniting…it’s a bit of a treadmill, and it happens all the time. However, Jane’s Addiction may just take the speed record. Two weeks after calling it quits, the band’s back in action. See, it’s this kind of nonsense that made Motley Crue decide to sign a friggin’ cessation agreement so people would actually take the split seriously.

Comedy aside, we’re very happy to see this happen. It’s never fun when one of the giants hangs up their guitars and heads home, and Jane’s Addiction were one of the hugest acts of their day. Maybe it’s their near brush with breakup that has them thinking back to the beginning. Nothing Shocking was the band’s first studio album, and the launching pad for their subsequent success. An enormous critical hit, the album is widely regarded as both the band’s finest hour, and one of the best albums of the 80s.

Infighting has long been an issue for Jane’s Addiction, and was apparently the root cause of the recent hiatus announcement (although Farrell’s insatiable love of side projects may have contributed). Whatever brought them back together has them going at least until May, when the band intends to perform their debut album during shows from the 8th to the 10th at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. Tickets go on sale February 1.
