Adore is the latest of Smashing Pumpkins albums to receive the re-issue treatment, reveals Howie Weinberg in a Reddit Q&A session. As usual, the extra goodies to be included in the release are considerable.

Following the re-issues of Aeroplane Flies High, Gish, Siamese Dream, Pisces Iscariot and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, re-issuing their 1996 release, Adore, would seem to be the most logical course of action. And it is.
Legendary producer Howie Weinberg (who has mastered works by Herbie Hancock, Nirvana, Ramones, Beastie Boys, Aerosmith, Public Enemy and others) recently took part in a Reddit Q&A session where he revealed that he is currently in the process of remastering Adore.
Not sure why it has to be remastered because the original is perfect:) All marketing decisions… how do sell a record twice – remaster it:) They will be releasing the mono versions and 5 extra CDs of unreleased material, live stuff etc… Not sure when.
Billy Corgan responded to this statement on Crestfallen via twitter, countering that there would in fact be four CDs of material and one DVD. Not really sufficient cause for Bummer-ville, we’d say.
Weinberg’s AMA continues with topics ranging from careers in production to Mike Patton, modern-day compression and music apps. Worth a read.
