Trey Spruance’s multifaceted and constantly changing group, Secret Chiefs 3, have announced live dates for this February that will take them down the West coast. Apologies to those not within range of the Pacific, you will miss out. Greatly.

The former Mr. Bungle guitarist has kept himself busy with a group that challenges all to even try categorizing their output. Though difficult for even the most consistent of bands, Spruance has engineered seven unique “identities” for Kaiser Chiefs 3, only six of which showed on their latest release. At the moment, the group is in the middle of a musical trilogy of baroque proportions which started in 2004 with their full-length Book of Horizons. This past November marked the release of the second album in the series, Book of Souls: Folio A, further development of singular vision executed in increasingly nuanced and beautifully varied tones. Book of Souls: Folio B is due sometime early this year with the final book in the series likely a good ways away.
