Albarn will be appearing at the Youtube on Mainstreet event which has been co-orchestrated by SPIN to enhance the Sundance Festival experience. He’ll be performing a solo set on Sunday the 19th, made up of material from Blur as well as more recent and unheard writings. A more solo-oriented performance would make sense considering he’s at work on his first solo album, however this does not spell the dissolution of Blur or Gorillaz, Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have emphatically reassured. In fact, a previously unreleased track from the Plastic Beach sessions was recently made available.
Youtube on Main Street will have acts both Saturday and Sunday including Cults, Neon Indian and a DJ set by LCD Soundsystem founder, James Murphy. All in all, sounds like a pretty good weekend.
