Clearly not one to take a break from making awesome music, Mark Lanegan has announced his intentions to begin work on a new album with the Mark Lanegan Band.

The former Screaming Trees frontman has kept busy with a steady stream of solo albums and high-profile collaborations. In an interview with MOJO Magazine, Lanegan stated that he is set to start working on the followup to 2012’s Blues Funeral. According to Lanegan, the other members of the Mark Lanegan Band didn’t fit the tone he envisioned for his latest covers compilation, Imitations, and so this will also mark reunion of sorts. Also on the radar is his upcoming best-of compilation Has God Seen My Shadow?, a 32-track collection taken from his solo work (the year 1989 onwards). Lanegan has also been attached to an album that will pay tribute to Sparklehorse’s Mark Linkous while simultaneously assisting a campaign to raise awareness of mental health issues. Busy times ahead.
