Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart will be reuniting as the Eurythmics later this month to play their part in the anniversary of the infamous first performance by The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles will be taped January 27th, the day after the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, and air on CBS February 9th.
Lennox and Stewart, who met in the mid-’70s, released their first album as a duo in 1981, then their breakthrough sophomore LP, Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), in 1983. The Eurythmics would release eight albums in eight years, and after such a steady run of recording and touring, the band chose to split up and pursue solo careers.
Both experienced success with their own albums, and Stewart also worked on such projects as writing film soundtracks. This includes that for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as Hole in the Fence, musical Rolling Stone reported he’d be working on with Ringo Starr.
The Eurythmics last album together would be 1999’s Peace, but they’ve continued to make appearances together over the years, including their last performance as a duo in 2005. The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles will bring them back together on the stage, alongside such artists as Keith Urban, Alicia Keys and John Legend.
