Chicagoan singer/songwriter Angel Olsen has just released a music video for “Forgiven/Forgotten”, the lead single off her upcoming Burn Your Fire for No Witness album. It features Olsen, a heavily censored costar, and at last count, at least five or six terrifying Youtube comments.
The next album is set to drop this February, and Olsen is clearly kicking her hype machine into overdrive. Anticipation’s running hot for this one, and “Forgiven/Forgotten” has already garnered its fair share of critical praise – including glowing reviews from Pitchfork and NPR Music. It’s a 2-minute scorcher of a song, and a serious departure from Olsen’s previous folk-leaning work.
The video comes courtesy of director Zia Anger. It’s shot on 16mm, and heavily features Olsen’s dramatic side. One interesting tidbit – the male character was actually hand-scratched out of the video. And you think we were kidding about the terrifying Youtube comments? Like hell; some of these people are really happy that Olsen didn’t kiss her costar, and some are really sad that Olsen didn’t kiss her costar. We don’t get Youtube.
