Metallica Release Live Album Their From Set in Antarctica + Full Set Video

So you probably heard about Metallica playing Antarctica a few weeks ago, right? You probably weren’t present though, and that’s the audience they’re trying to reach with a new live record and by streaming the video from the concert (whose setlist strangely lacked “Trapped Under Ice”).

Surprisingly, Metallica was only the second band to play that oft-forgotten continent but still the first to play all seven continents in the span of a year. According to Consequence of Sound, the group’s winter-time exploits are now available for listening in digital and CD formats. Apparently the entire gig was done without actual amplifiers and so the tone on this recording should be a mirror-like representation of the direct input experience that actual concert-goers had to brave the cold for.
