The Theatre at Ace Hotel will host Spiritualized on its opening night, in collaboration with FYF and Goldenvoice. The event will take place on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
The British band will play the entirety of their album Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space live on the opening night. The last time Spiritualized performed the whole album was in 2010, when they revived it at Radio City Music Hall. Tickets for the Valentine’s Day performance will go on sale December 19.
The theater, which used to be the United Artists Theatre, was built by the aforementioned film studio in 1927, during the Golden Age of Hollywood. It is now adjacent to the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles and is reopening as the Theatre at Ace Hotel.
Spiritualized front man Jason Pierce was diagnosed with long-term liver disease in 2012, but that hasn’t slowed the band down too much. In 2013 they played at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown in a collaboration with FYF. That set occurred in between Coachella weekends, at which the band also appeared. Also in 2013, Spiritualized performed at North Carolina’s Hopscotch Festival.
