7 Days of Funk Record Release Party at the Exchange L.A.

7 Days of Funk’s record release at the Exchange L.A. was definitely a party– a somewhat chaotic party, but a good time nonetheless. There was a constant flow of music legends; Peanut Butter Wolf took over the turntables while Novena Carmel (of Wallpaper, daughter of Sly Stallone), Egyptian Lover, Nite Jewel, Steve Arrington and others took their turns onstage. After a performance by the legendary Bootsy Collins came Dam-Funk, who spun and sang and even ended the night with a touching speech about the support he’s received from Snoop and his parents (who he then brought onstage).

There were a few technical difficulties when Snoopzilla approached the turntables. He was referred to by all of his many names throughout the night, but mainly as his most well known moniker, Snoop Dogg. It took a little while to work out the issue, but everyone pitched in to fill that time. Bootsy did another number, Sheila Washington (of Bride of Funkenstein) performed, champagne was poured into mouths and Flea got called on stage to play for a song. Once that was all worked out, Snoop took over again. For the most part, he DJ-ed, but he also took center stage with Dam-Funk to sing a track or two. He hammed it up for cameras and signed everything audience members handed to him. The long night ended with Snoop Dogg and Dam-Funk wastedly grooving and singing along to tracks from their new album, 7 Days of Funk.
