Another absolutely enormous European concert announcement. The Øyafestivalen – actually, we’ll stick with “Oya Festival” – has dropped a bomb of a lineup, featuring superstars from both sides of the pond.
What began as a relatively minor Norwegian festival in 1999 has become, well, this. The Oya Festival’s 2014 incarnation includes stoner-rock gods Queens of the Stone Age – hoping to follow up on a banner year in 2013 – Scandinavian star collaboration Royskopp & Robyn, and indie stalwarts Neutral Milk Hotel.
If the Royskopp & Robyn thing didn’t get you frothing at the mouth, then we can assume you’re not reading this from Norway. Robyn is, far and away, one of the biggest names to come out of Sweden in recent memory. American readers may have heard of her before, but she’s on an entirely different scale on the continent. She’ll be singing with Norwegian electronica duo Royskopp, a collaboration that probably caused at least a little hysteria when it was announced. Ticket info and full lineup below.
