Black Lips Announce New Album Underneath the Rainbow for March 2014 Release

The often controversial band is just about ready to release their first full length in three years (though they certainly haven’t been idle in the meantime).

After 2011’s Arabia Mountain, the Georgian group have occupied themselves with extensive touring and even shooting a documentary. Titled “Kids Like You & Me”, the film depicts the Black Lips touring the Middle East in 2012 and was shown in conjunction with some of the band’s appearances this Fall.

The recording of Underneath the Rainbow was split between Dunham Studios in New York and Nashville with production assistance by Tommy Brenneck (Cee Lo, Charles Bradley) and Patrick Carney (The Black Keys). We’ve seen the group mature over the years and slowly let go of their Viennese Actionism leanings, a trend that has hopefully continued on this album which is slated for release March 18. On deck is a performance at SXSW 2014 and, hopefully, more touring.
