St. Vincent Announces New Self-Titled Album For February 2014 Release

St. Vincent, the stage name of Annie Clark, has just finished recording her fourth studio album and it is expected to drop on February 25.

The Line of Best Fit reports that Republic Records, St. Vincent’s label, has self-titled LP from St. Vincent lined up for February release, though the album’s title may change before it drops. According to Direct Current Music, the lead track will be titled “Birth In Reverse.”

The album was largely written and recorded in Texas, as Clark told Smithsonian Magazine, because “I wanted to go someplace to write that wasn’t New York. It was February and I wanted to be somewhere warm.”

St. Vincent’s last solo studio album was 2011’s Strange Mercy, which took the number one spot on mxdwn’s Top 40 Albums of 2011. In 2012, she collaborated with David Byrne of the Talking Heads on an album titled Love This Giant. Leading up to the new record’s release in February, Clark will be going on tour.
