The latest additions include Walter Schreifels of Quicksand, Steve Myers of the Afghan Whigs, Colin Caufield of DIIV, Oliver Ackerman of A Place to Bury Strangers, Brian Viglione of the Dresden Dolls, Stuart Bogie of Antibalas and Christopher Todd of Sannhet. There are five more artists that have yet to be announced, as well as a “Very Special Guest,” according to Brooklyn Vegan. The Brooklyn Rock Lottery consists of the following:

The premise is simple, but effective. Twenty-five hand picked musicians meet at 10:00AM at the evenings performance venue. These volunteers are organized into five groups through a lottery-based chance selection. The five separate groups are then released to practice at different locations. The musicians have twelve hours to create a band name and three to five songs (with a one cover-song limit). The groups will then perform what they have created that evening in front of a waiting audience.

Tickets for the event are already on sale and all proceeds go to a non-profit music and mentoring program, called the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, that focuses on music education for girls and women. The Brooklyn Rock Lottery will take place at Knitting Factory. The entire list of participants so far is below.
