Priscilla Ahn has been on the scene for all of about 5 years, and she’s already thinking about reinvention. The Georgian singer-songwriter has announced her next album This Is Where We Are, and set a February release date.
It’s unusual for a new artist to generate as much buzz as Ahn did back in 2008. Her debut, A Good Day, won widespread critical acclaim, while songs from their album found their way onto numerous television shows, including Gray’s Anatomy and Psych. A talented multi-instrumentalist (Ahn claims proficiency in everything from the guitar to the kazoo), Ahn had her start playing open-mic sets before signing up with Blue Note Records.
Ahn’s next album promises to be a change of pace. In her words:
“For me, this album was about finally finding my voice again as a songwriter and a singer. This Is Where We Are portrays who I am now and another side of myself that I’d never really been able to show in other albums.”
She also recently released a music video for “Leave it Open“, a collaboration with Dave Sitek from TV on the Radio
