Three Members of R.E.M. Perform at Athens 40 Watt Club

R.E.M. may not be reuniting, but three of its members did to perform a song at Athens, Georgia’s 40 Watt Club on November 14th.

Bassist Mike Mills, drummer Bill Berry and guitarist Peter Buck performed alongside each other despite having disbanded their mutual group R.E.M. in 2011. The trio performed one of the classics from their catalog, “(Don’t Go Back) To Rockville.” According to an audience member, the lead vocalist Michael Stipe was in the audience, but did not perform with the group. R.E.M. has denied any form of reunion in the works, though at Buck’s wedding, every member performed, though not at the same time and thus, could not be considered a reunion. Watch the closest thing to an R.E.M. reunion you’re likely to see, the live performance of “(Don’t Go Back To) Rockville,” below.
