A tribute to avante-garde singer/songwriter/producer Scott Walker featuring musicians including Adam Green, Nicole Atkins, and Bright Lights Bright Lights will take place next month at New York’s (le) Poisson Roughe nightclub.
British ex-pat Scott Walker has made quite an impression on the music community in the last 50 plus years both as vocalist for 1960’s pop group The Walker Brothers and with his darker experimental solo work. He has influenced countless contemporary artists, counts David Bowie and Jarvis Cocker as fans, has contributed to a number of film/TV soundtracks including The Godfather and Futurama, and has collaborated with the likes of Bat For Lashes among many others.
On the evening of December 1st a stellar group of musicians will come together at Greenwich Village’s (le) Poisson Rouge (located at the former site of the historic Village Gate nightclub) to pay tribute to Walker. The full lineup is as follows: Adam Green (Moldy Peaches), Satomi Matsuzaki (Deerhoof), Bright Light Bright Light, Nicole Atkins, Antony Ellis (5 O’Clock Heroes), Little Annie, Eytan and the Embassy, Ex Cops, Invisible Familiars, Julia Haltigan, Ella Joyce Buckley, and some more special guests. A live string section will be led by classical violinist/orchestrator Gillian Rivers.
