Tom Araya, vocalist and bassist of metal band Slayer, thinks that there may be no more shows featuring the “Big Four,” an ensemble that includes Slayer.

The “Big Four” is made up of 1980s thrash metal bands Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. They last performed together in 2011, first at the Indio Festival in California, then at Yankee Stadium a week later. The four groups played together in Milan that year as well, covering the Misfits track “Die, Die My Darling.”
Blabbermouth reports that, in his latest interview, Araya claims that the “Big Four” shows happened “through Metallica” and “with Metallica’s blessing.” The idea for a tour featuring the four metal bands was created in 2009.
Araya’s doubt about a future “Big Four” show is partially because of an issue that happened at the New York show. “I don’t want to say politics is preventing that,” Araya said. “It’s not the politics between bands; it’s the politics of character in one particular band.”
Slayer has already had a lot to deal with this year, including the death of founding member and guitarist Jeff Hanneman. Drummer Dave Lombardo also left the band and was replaced by Paul Bostaph for Slayer’s fall 2013 tour. In addition to Araya’s doubt about the “Big Four” reuniting, it seems he is also unsure of Slayer’s future together.
