M83’s soundtrack for You And The Night will be available for digital download on November 19.
You And The Night is former band member Yann Gonzalez’s first feature film and the music is different from what fans have come to expect of M83, according to Yann’s brother Anthony, the band’s main composer.
People who only like “Midnight City” are going to be disappointed. Mellow and romantic, this soundtrack pays tribute to French soundtracks from the 70’s and is much more intimate than Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming and the Oblivion Soundtrack. This score is really for lovers and ghosts.
One of the songs from the soundtrack, “Ali & Matthias,” is currently streaming on Soundcloud so you can get an idea of what the score will sound like.
In other M83 news, they played at the Hollywood Bowl with Phantogram in September and produced track for The Killers entitled “Shot at the Night.” The French electronic band also collaborated with Bryce Dallas Howard on their music video for “Claudia Lewis.”
