Prepare for menacing lighting, very menacing music, and supremely menacing facial hair. Concept collective Secret Chiefs 3 has released a new video for John Carpenter’s cover of “Personae: Halloween” off of the upcoming Book of Souls release.
We could write an essay on this band, and we still wouldn’t even be close to the full story. To stick to the barest of bones: Secret Chiefs 3 was founded by Terry Spruance, guitarist to Mike Patton projects Mr. Bungle and Faith No More. “Band” isn’t necessarily the right word – Secret Chiefs 3 actually comprises several satellite projects, which run the gamut from death metal to electroacoustic music. They released Book of Horizons all the way back in 2004 and blew minds here at mxdwn. It’s been a few years since then (okay fine, a decade), and the second part of their proposed three-part epic, Book of Souls is finally set to drop this November.
Of course, even that got delayed, but at this point we really can’t complain about a couple months’ wait. So sit back, relax, enjoy, and join us in waiting for the rest of the album.
