The Flaming Lips and Ke$ha Cancel Planned Album Collaboration Lip$ha

Ke$ha and The Flaming Lips have spent a lot of time together in the last few years, collaborating on The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends and cover album The Lips put together of songs by The Stone Roses. Frontman Wayne Coyne got people jazzed with his announcement his band would again be teaming up with Ke$ha for a duo album, but news just broke that Lip$ha was no more.

Coyne stated the following on Twitter today:

It’s somewhat surprising news, considering how close the group seemed to have gotten with Ke$ha; Coyne told Pitchfork about how he’d gotten ahold of some of her blood, and there’s proof of his statement she was “blast” to work with.

Ke$ha also managed to convince Coyne to get his first tattoo, so it seems unlikely her and The Lips are through after the shelving of their duo album. Don’t be surprised to hear of a reunion of the bunch in the near future.
