Most people would look for beauty on the underside of a dog’s tongue before they turned to overheard conversations in Brooklyn for inspiration. But, according to Elbow frontman Guy Garvey, that’s exactly where the band’s upcoming album is rooted. Good idea? We’ll see, Elbow’s currently set to drop their next album in March of next year.
No word yet on whether or not “Eeey Get the Hell Out of My Way” is a planned track title, but we do have a name for the upcoming album. What once was All At Once is now titled Carry Her Carry Me, and yes, inspiration for the album did come from six weeks the band spent in New York.
While inspiration may be Big Apple-derived, most of the grunt work took place across the pond. Elbow spent some intense weeks at Real World Studios, stomping grounds of legendary Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel, and finished the new album while there.
It’s the first time in a long time that we’ve heard from the hard charging Brits. The last album we got from Elbow was 2011’s Build a Rocket Boys!, and the last new material was, of all things, a six-minute piece composed for the London Olympics.
