Watch: Savages Release New Video For “Marshal Dear”

London post-punk revivalists Savages have a released a new animated video for their song, “Marshal Dear.”

Animated by recent RCA grad Gergely Wootsch, the video is inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s classic novel about a time traveling WWII vet, Slaughterhouse Five. The short is the brainchild of Savages guitarist Gemma Thompson and is based on a particular scene where time is moving backwards and the damage of war is seemingly being undone. It’s very well suited for “Marshall Dear,” the orchestral closing track on Savages’ Mercury Prize nominated debut album Silence Yourself, about the attempted assassination of Hitler by Field Marshal Rommel. Two different cases of trying to right the wrongs of the second World War.
