Broken Bells, a collaboration between James Mercer of The Shins and Danger Mouse, have released the prologue to their upcoming short film.
Part One: Angel and the Fool stars Anton Yelchin, Chekov of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek films and Charlie Brewster in the 2011 remake of Fright Night, and Kate Mara, Zoe Barnes on the Netflix original series House of Cards. The short film is part of the duo’s second album, After the Disco, to be released in January 2014. It was based on a story by Brian Burton and directed by Jacob Gentry.
The prologue, which can be seen on YouTube, includes some stunning visuals. Yelchin’s character, Oliver, lives a monotonous life, but falls asleep one day and winds up on an adventure in a mountainous desert area. There he finds Mara’s character, Helen, in a space suit, looking similar to a painting in his home. Though there is a clear romantic plot to the video, it is unclear what is fantasy and what is reality.
