To help bring attention to national parks, and the need to better preserve them, Andrew Bird recently joined Tift Merritt for an intimate performance in the Mojave Desert Land Trust. The duo’s full set will be available for all to see October 28th, but in the meantime, we’ve got a sneak peek of their acoustic beauty, below.
Bird and Merritt had originally planned to perform their set at Joshua Tree National Park, but the government shutdown forced them to relocate to a remote spot on Quail Mountain, in the Mojave Desert Land Trust. 10 contest winners – including mxdwn‘s very own, Raymond Flotat! – were lucky enough to join the pair as they played their way through a number of gorgeous tunes, all in an effort to raise awareness of funding needs for our country’s parks.
This Monday, October 28th, the entire set will be available to stream at Nature Valley’s The Quietest Show On Earth website, where you can also donate to the National Parks Conservation Association. Until then, check out Bird and Merritt as they perform “Give It Away”:
