In a widespread effort to bring support to the southeast India ‘Dalit’, or ‘untouchable’ children, the Scotland-based arts collective Transgressive North, in conjunction with the charity Scottish Love in Action, founded the Everything is New project. This project is bringing together hordes of musicians to produce music that will help fund India’s Light of Love Children’s Home, and bring relief to those Dalit subject to child prostitution, forced labor, homelessness and poverty.
On January 20, 2014, three pieces of art will be made available to the public that highlight the efforts behind Everything is New. One will be the 70-minute film Everything Is New, which recounts the harrowing experience the Dalit children endure, and the work Transgressive North, Scottish Love in Action and Light of Love do to combat it. The other two are albums that feature the voices of the Light of Love Children’s Choir, as well as a large number of musicians from across the globe.
Sun Choir, an album composed and recorded by Scottish art-pop group Marram, features the Choir’s voices, as well as such musicians as Jarvis Cocker, White Hinterland and doseone. As for Boats, all 29 songs on the album were created in inspiration from, and mixing of, the children’s voices. Artists such as Gang Gang Dance, YACHT, A Sunny Day In Glasgow and many more contributed to this compilation.
