Psapp put down most of their toys for a recent recording session which birthed two new videos. Their trademark cats were missing as well.
Toytronica works surprisingly well in these unplugged performances featuring the experimental duo and some accompanying musicans/vocalists who bring in some great additional texture. “Your Hot Knife” is marked by very subdued vocals and guitar over a relatively lively percussion section which, along with a recurring keyboard line, acts as a nice counterbalance. “Seven” is slightly more upbeat but Galia Durant’s vocals are likewise soft, slightly jazzy and very much in control. These recordings follow the recent release of the song “Everything Belongs to the Sun” in anticipation of their new LP which should be here by November.
