In a recent interview with Brazilian news channel R7, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett got vocal about his thoughts on social media and iTunes. This isn’t the first time Hammett has made remarks about the downfall of the music industry since the social media and iTunes phenomenon exploded into the business. Metallica’s visionary guitarist and songwriter took a firm stance during the interview, including discussing his thoughts on the next generation of headliners and Metallica’s new film Metallica Through the Never. Watch the interview below.

“There haven’t been a lot of really, really great bands that have shown that kind of promise, you know. I think it’s a concern. Because of things like iTunes and streaming and social networking, it’s destroyed music. It’s destroyed the motivation to go out there and really make the best record possible. It’s a shame.” – Kirk Hammett
