In 2007 Massive Attack co-founder Robert Del Naja ventured to the Congo with Damon Albarn’s Africa Express project, and as heard in Del Naja’s new track “3D on Jupiter”, he remains heavily influenced by the trip.
The trip’s affect was definitely heard in December 2012, when Del Naja unveiled his Battle Box project, an attempt to “fuse music, art and discourse across one-off live events, exhibitions and exclusive vinyl releases.” The first release from this was Battle Box 001, a 12″ that featured Del Naja and Elbow’s Guy Garvey.
Now we have Battle Box 002, consisting of two tracks in which Del Naja remixes the heavy beats of Congolese artist Jupiter Bokonjdi. Listen to the dominating march of the track “3D on Jupiter” in the video below:
Elsewhere, Del Naja and Massive Attack have been making waves with their United States debut of the Massive Attack v Adam Curtis shows – click here for more information.
