Broken Bells Announce New Album After the Disco Set for January 2014 Release

Exciting news from Broken Bells. The power duo – comprised of Danger Mouse and Shins frontman James Mercer – has announced a January 2014 release date for their second album, After the Disco .

It’s not often that stars collide this perfectly. Collaborations are notoriously finicky things. Sometimes the artists don’t click – remember Scream by Chris Cornell? (you have our sympathies if you do), and sometimes they click a little too well, a la Bowie and Jagger’s “Dancing in the Street”. Broken Bells, fortunately, got it right. Their debut, eponymous album won major praise back in 2010. Our first reaction to the announcement: “it’s about time”.

Seriously. Four years we’ve waited for a new full-length album, and it’s finally here. Sure, they released 4-track EP Meyrin Fields in 2011, but it’s damn good to see Mercer and Mouse back in the studio. A short teaser video was also released, featuring the band and an extremely short sound clip. Check it out below.
