Tyler, the Creator gets a little shady in his new music video. Slim Shady, anyway, down to the rampant misogyny, parental hate, and a namedrop to Hailie. Love him or hate him, Tyler is back, and you sure as hell can’t ignore him.
“Tamale” advertises itself as “A Visual Interpretation of Tyler’s Mind”, and that’s a seriously worrying premise. It follows through when you hit the video, which features golf cart antics and giant cat balls (not figuratively). And then the guitars cut in, and everything gets all Marshall Mathers. Tyler slows things down, and offers an incredibly personal address to his father. It’s moments like these that really make you wonder what Tyler’s all about. Is the guy a sociopath, or a satirist? Impossible to tell.
Whichever he is, he’s definitely gaining steam. The Creator found himself featured on GTAV’s in-game radio station (maybe the most perfect game/artist pairing imaginable), and has caught some recent attention after rumors surfaced of an upcoming collaboration with up-and-comer Earl Sweatshirt. Finally, the second Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA) Carnival has been announced, with Tyler and Odd Future compatriot Frank Ocean headlining.
Video below, we’ll offer the standard Tyler warning: it’s NSFW, and certainly not for the easily offended.
