Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio has recently announced a due date for his upcoming second EP, Mira. Baio, who DJs under the name Baio (double points for creativity), also released a remix of “Regular Town” by New Navy.
Expect interesting things from Mira. Vampire Weekend has long pushed the indie envelope with their unusual, progressive instrumentals. Baio continues the trend; his last release, the Sunburn EP was a critical darling, winning widespread acclaim for its maturity and depth. If Baio’s concurrent release, the superchill “Regular Town” remix, is an indication of what’s to come, we’re looking at some seriously hypnotic stuff. Those waiting for his next offering won’t have long to suffer: Mira is set to drop on October 28th.
That other band that Baio is in has also been bus of late. Modern Vampires, their third album, came out earlier this year. Follow-up performances at Glastonbury and an absolutely monster ongoing Fall tour have Vampire Weekend in solid form for 2013.
