The Flaming Lips Announce New Peace Sword EP Inspired by Ender’s Game and Split EP with Tame Impala

The Flaming Lips announced the release of two new EPs, one inspired by Ender’s Game, the other in coordination with Tame Impala.

The Flaming Lips’ recent involvement with the movie Ender’s Game inspired them for their upcoming EP Peace Sword. As Coyne stated in an interview with The Huffington Post:

“We really ended up liking (the movie). A lot of times, people do songs for movies and there are a lot of criteria that you have to follow to make it suit the movie people…We quite like the mood of it and the way of it, the sound and the theme of it. Steven [Drozd] and I both remarked, ‘Man, I’d like to do some more music associated with this,’ and we think they’re going to let us.. I think it could work out.”

They will also be releasing a split EP with Tame Impala, and will be touring with them in October. Wayne Coyne has kept busy recently – on top of the two Flaming Lips EPs scheduled for release, he was featured in Moby’s video for “The Perfect Life,” organized Stone Roses cover album with The Flaming Lips, and released his first comic book, entitled “The Sun is Sick.”
