WATCH: Mudhoney Release New Video for Song “The Only Son of the Widow from Nain”

Mudhoney’s not exactly the first band you’d expect to name-drop an obscure biblical figure. Then again, it did give them to chance to make a music video featuring Jesus and his cheap-vfx force lightning. It’s Mudhoney, what did you expect? Anyway, the music video for “The Only Son of the Widow from Nain” is out via Esquire.

It’s been a year of revival for the Seattle original grungers – hence “The Only Son of the Widow from Nain”, a reference to a biblical resurrection…told you the song had a strange premise. Anyway, big year. Mudhoney released Vanishing Point, their first album in a long, long time, back in April. It found them, thank goodness, more or less as we left them – crass, way too much fun, and incorrigibly sick (feel free to touch them).

The new video, a largely black-and-white affair, is definitely worth a watch. It definitely lets you know that these guys grew up on Sub-Pop. Remember the video for Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”? This is sort of similar, but with a sense of humor. It’s half funny, and half keep-that-nurse-thing-with-needle-hands-away-from-me, check it out below. But seriously, that nurse/abomination thing is worth some nightmares.
