‘Toytronica’ pioneers Psapp are breaking their four year silence with the release of a new LP, What Makes Us Glow, set to drop in mid-November.
Psapp are probably best know for their song “Cosy in the Rocket,” the main theme for the TV hospital drama Grey’s Anatomy, and are responsible for a genre of music known for its’ use of toys as instruments: Toytronica. The London duo made a lot of fans very happy last week when they released the first single from the upcoming album, “Everything Belongs To The Sun,” after four years without new material.
What Makes Us Glow, the long awaited followup to 2008’s The Camel’s Back, will stay true to Psapp’s signature experimental noise-scape. Setting up their studio in a German castle, they’ve used a number of unconventional sources to create the music, including the sounds of snoring, cows and mealworms. Be sure to listen for the ‘boneaphone,’ a marimba they put together out of, you guessed it, bones.
What Makes Us Glow is out November 11th via The state51 Conspiracy. For more information, visit their website.
