WATCH: Arctic Monkeys Cover Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home”

It seems not even The Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner is immune to the undeniable catchiness that is the top-forties craze. Take a look at their cover of Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home”.

Hot off the trail of their three new singles, “Arabella“, “Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You“, and “2013“; new video for “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High“; and a brand new album, AM; the Arctic Monkeys appear to have a slew of surprises waiting in the wings. A recent interview with SPIN Magazine, for example, revealed that the Arctic Monkeys’ frontman, Alex Turner, may have a bit of a hankering for music by Canadian rapper and former child star, Drake.

While in the midst of a conversation with SPIN, Turner confessed that he liked Drake’s 2011 album, Take Care, and that he “went to a Drake show in the rain in Hyde Park last summer, it was great.” Since that time it appears that Turner has acclimated the rest of the Mercury Prize-nominated rock group to the rapper, as the Arctics covered “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” from Drake’s upcoming Nothing Was the Same, on last Firday’s BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. Although the Arctic Monkeys’ version of the song is undeniably grittier and in a slightly lower key, the indie-rock group has interpreted Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” in a remarkably similar manner to the original rendition.
